No one told me

It's amazing how quickly Taj has grown in the 3+ weeks of life. We go to the doctor this week for a check up and I am really excited to see how much he weighs.

On the flip side, I am still not getting very much sleep. I don't think I remember anyone warning me about this. A lot of people who have a kid say "It's hard but it doesn't last long" and "I don't even remember it now." Yeah right! When you are going off 3-4 hours of sleep multiple nights in a row....it feels like eternity and the reason you probably don't remember is because you were living in a blur. I can't tell you what today is, safely give you directions anywhere, or tell you what I want for lunch. My reaction times are greatly increased and I am living in one constant brain fart. When will this end? I realize there is an end cause he can't stay this small forever...I am just wondering how long I will be able to last.

Things that have helped me get through sleep deprivation have been:
-A nice shower daily (which I hear some first time mom's don't always get so I am lucky)
- Putting on make-up to look nice
- Walks in the park with hopefully a little bit of sunshine
- TV...we only get 3 channels and will lose it on June 12th when it switches over to digital...but it has kept me company sadly.

He has arrived

Sorry for the delay but life's been slightly crazy since the baby came. Taj arrived May 8th at 9:19pm. Here are a few pictures to enjoy.

Five, Five days overdue!

So today marks the 5th day of being overdue. R. was hoping it would be a Cinco de Mayo baby, but no such luck. I've learned a lot about "alternative" ways to induce labor and have tried multiple different approaches (cause the only advice anyone gives or really knows about is ONE) ...but still, no such luck. Today I have an OB appointment in which I am hoping she doesn't say I am stuck at being dilated only 1cm. I have a good feeling about today though. Well, maybe not so good. I have a lot of pressure in my pelvis. But at least that's a progressive sign and we are moving in the right direction....down and out!

May 1st

So technically I am due today. Will Baby Monsoon show his face today? Of course not! And believe me, we are trying just about everything except Castor oil....cause that just grosses me out. Sadly, the only fun thing about today is people's reactions when I tell them I am due today. I was out planting flowers and 2 of our very Baltimore neighbors came up to talk and asked me when I was due. When I told them today they about freaked out and looked like they lost some color in their faces. In a small way, it's entertaining to see people's reactions to me, like I am a ticking time bomb. No one seems to want to be near when this thing goes off.
