Why I love my husband

Some say that after a while some people start to look like their dogs. I encountered this in real life for the first time these past few days. If you are not in the Bmore area, it was beautiful for the past 4 days. Sunny and 80's (ok 90's at times). With this warm weather we were out on our deck a lot enjoying the sun and warmth, and occassionally a fly or 2 would get in our house. This for some reason doesn't bother me....but for R. and Sadie, they can not continue on with life unless they hunt and kill the fly. One evening we were laying in bed (all 3 of us) and Sadie is eyeing flies and catching them in her mouth, while my husband is getting out of bed and hunting flies around the room and swating them with a Tshirt.

It was quite a scene...which I think I handled pretty well being muy prego and not being able to move out of the way very quickly when a dog is lunging or a Tshirt flying at me.

Within the week a new Munjal should be here!

We are not just counting weeks, we are down to days now. The whole thing is just very surreal to me. I can handle taking care of a plant. I've had a dog for 4 years and she's turned out somewhat well. Can I really handle a baby? I know I can, it's just doing it. I am just really selfish and don't want to completely stop my life. (Hence going out for Happy Hour at Little Havana's on Friday- had an ice tea, not a mojito)

This weekend was a little rough. I was determined to get out and walk on Saturday in the woods, and it's been hot here which has been wonderful...but the heat and walking sure took it out of me and I needed a nap afterwards. Then Saturday night I just didn't sleep well at all. Baby Monsoon was resting in an odd position in my pelvis that made sleeping hurt more than normal...so I got up at 5 am, came down to the basement and sat on my big therapy ball while watching The Office on our computer. And of course had my sidekick Sadie there to provide me company through the uncomfortable times (R. was sleeping by the way, but that was ok with me). I've also been having more Braxton Hicks contractions which I know aren't the real ones, but they are NOT absolutely comfortable contractions either. Usually I need to change positions or slow down when I have them and I definitely notice them a lot more frequently. Hopefully baby Monsoon comes sooner than later!

The rollercoaster is starting to speed up!

Right now I feel like R. and I have reached the top of the biggest hill of a roller coaster and we are just waiting for gravity to pull us down the hill at a ridiculous speed and go into the corkscrew at the bottom of the hill. This baby thing is getting really close, and instead of be giddy with anticipation, I am a little nervous. Maybe it's a healthy nervous feeling. When I used to work in the PICU we always talked about healthy nerves. It's good to be nervous about sky diving...although fun to free fall, you could die. Being a little nervous helps to keep reality in check, but it's not good if it keeps you from doing things in life. Lord knows being nervous is not going to stop this baby from coming in about 3 weeks.

So what am I nervous about? Well the pain for one, duh! I feel like I am waiting around right now knowing that soon I will feel the worst pain I've ever felt so far in my life...kinda scary. I am also a little nervous about what my lifestyle will be like afterwards. I think sometimes I get caught up on this more than the pain. Here in Bmore, I really don't have friends with kids, let alone friends that are married...ok, even friends in a relationship (sorry guys). We are the odd ones out and I am a little nervous to lose my friendships to some degree. Although I know I'll be gaining a little man that will be so special to me, I feel to some extent that I will be continuing to distance myself from some friendships that I hold dear because we are not in the same stage of life. Call me crazy but this happens! And it makes me a little nervous.

And just for kicks a picture of R. and I at a beer festival back home in PA...7 months pregnant. I was the DD and that is birch beer thank you very much!
