Oops!

Today I was walking in the park, barely managing Sadie on a leash and Taj in the stroller. I saw a lot of tents and people around and then all of the sudden heard "ACTION!" This couple started walking in front of me and a girl with an empty baby stroller started walking right at me. Turns out I was walking through a set while they were filming. I unfortunately have no idea what they were filming and I don't think I saw anyone famous. Basically I hauled ass out of the way once he yelled cut.

A ride on the wild side

This weekend I saw 2 guys (separate incidences) mixing bike riding with cellphone use. One guy was texting while riding his bike down a hill with no helmet on. I was kinda impressed at first but then thought, wouldn't it be easier to text while you were still? It's hard to use the backspace while moving that fast let along capitalizing a letter. In a separate event I saw a guy riding his bike, talking on the phone while HOLDING his helmet. This guys was just dumb to me.

The Pool!

Today Taj and I ventured out to the pool in Patterson Park. I must say, I had reservations since it is a city pool, but it is by far the coolest pool I've ever been to (for a kid). They have a sand pit that is amazing, a little concrete area with water shooting out from the ground and giant misting rings to run through, and then there is the kiddie pool with a mushroom waterfall. It is well work the $1.50 I paid and quite a steal. It's also clean! Too bad we just started going at the end of the summer. =(

Best Birthday Present!

For my husband's birthday Taj decided to roll for the first time. I can tell this is one of many times I'll be upstaged by the baby.

Exhaustion!

Once upon a time I had a different standard for exhaustion. I remember it well actually. While I was working in the PICU I worked 3 night shifts in a row with one day off (not really cause all you do is sleep and not much else) followed by 3 days in a row. It was hell.
Today my exhaustion is something different. I have not had a good nights sleep in months. Probably about 5 months in fact. Oh Taj, I love him to death but this whole waking up at 2, 4, 5:30 and then 7 is getting old. I should be happy that he sleeps about 5-6 hours straight right? I am not, I want to sleep 5-6 hours in a row! And the whole nap when he naps is a bunch of crap. He naps only 20-30 minutes. By the time I get comfortable he's up again. I love this kid to death but I also love sleep and I am not sure when I will get to enjoy it again.

What we teach our children

Yesterday while I was holding Taj I picked my nose. He looked up at me and smiled and laughed at me. I am realizing that I am going to have to be careful what I do around him so he doesn't pick up bad habits, like picking his nose.

Bath time

Oh what a few months can do. First bath Taj screamed the whole time. Now, he is smiling and kicking in the water.

Mr. Kirby and Melissa Long

This weekend we packed up the car and went to PA for my friend Lissa's wedding. It was by far one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever been to. Lissa made all of the decorations herself (going to art school pays off) and had it in her backyard. It was really funny taking my family up there and being in her backyard again. In high school and college, Lissa and her sisters, me and my sister and Jolene and her sister all worked for Melissa's father doing landscaping. You can only imagine the trouble that one can get into working summers with your friends as well as you sisters. Being back at the Balmer's house brought back so many memories (long lunch breaks and swimming in the pool). What a perfect place to have a wedding.

Sadly our camera ran out of juice but we did manage to get one of our first family shots. Also Lissa rented a photo booth...how cool is that? Taj behaved himself like the little gentleman he is and we all 3 got to dance together on the dance floor.
