Huh moment

To help R. study for his boards, Taj and I decided to take a small trip to central PA to stay with my parents. As an example of my head being one big "brain fart", I forgot to pack 2 of the most important things for the trip....underwear and Sadie's seizure medication. R. pointed out that I had forget her medications (I had yet to figure out the underwear thing) so as a team we called her vet, the vet in PA and got her medication called into of all places....WALMART. That's right, I had to go pick up my dog's medication at WALMART. When I got home from my trip to Super Walmart I realized I forgot to pack underwear. Sure, Super Walmart is open 24 hours a day...but I am not crazy enough to drive back out there. I am handwashing and somehow found a random pair that my sister left up here. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Don't judge me!

Patterson Park

Of all the places in the city to live, I feel so blessed to live by Patterson Park. Not to say that there aren't great places around Baltimore...but where else can you see an African American Little League game, a pick up soccer game, and cricket being played on the same field?

Chuck and Hidey

Yesterday while walking Sadie in the park a little boy approached me and asked me if he could walk my dog. I had some reservations, but the kid was persistent and walked around the small park with Sadie and I. Turns out he's going into 3rd grade at Highlandtown Elementary. He has a one year old sister and watched an "old school movie about dancing" from the 80's! He even showed me some dance moves from the movie. He has no plans for the summer yet, and when I asked if he was going to visit family from out of town he proceeded to tell me just how big his family is. His dad is Latino..."so I have that whole side" and he is part Indian. Cherokee in fact..."so I have that whole side too." The kid was African American so I assumed he had that whole side going for him as well.

Walking around the park with him reminded me of hanging out with Chuck and Hidey when I first moved to Baltimore with Brita. His dance moves sure did spark memories of "Dance for your Dinner" nights. I have no idea where they are now, but they will always have a special place in my heart.

Small Victory

Attempted Passport photo

Jungle boy! I know the hat is ridiculous but it's all we have to keep the sun out of his eyes on our walks to the park.

Nap time in the Munjal house

Swati and Sapna with Taji. While Sapna was here she wrote a song in Hindi for him!

Taj telling his Grandma's he loves them back

Today I had a huge victory. I rocked Taj in the rocker we bought (and haven't used since he was born) and put him in his crib (also, haven't used) to nap for 1 hour. During that hour they say you should sleep, but I cleaned. Since Sapna and Swati (R.'s step mom and step sister) left, my house looks like it's been hit by a tornado! I folded laundry. Ran the dishwasher. Straightened the living room. Swept the floor. I think this is the first time EVER I didn't get side tracked while doing chores. I stayed focused cause I didn't know how long I would have before Taj woke up.

Thankfully it was a hour, and after that he slept another 2 hours while I held him and watched MADE on MTV.com since we no longer have a TV but just static. That was my relaxation for the day...watching a girl learn to be an ice skater in 5 weeks.

So Taj is now 5 weeks old. Still awaiting that social smile any day. Here are a few pictures so you can see how big he's gotten. I'm also adding an attempted passport photo just cause it was hilarious. We took about 20 pictures of me holding "Mr. Bobblehead" against the wall and can use....oh, about none of them. But it was a funny experience.
