R. and I tend to split the cooking 50-50 in our house. I am the type of person that follows a recipe for the most part and sticks to meals I have memorized. I like to venture out and try new things on the weekends usually when I have time. R. on the other hand tends to be the type of chef would be great hosting a cooking show for Bachelors. He will go through out kitchen (even if nothing is in it) and whip up an amazing meal in 30 minutes, no recipe, nothing.
Last night he was a little off. Here is his recipe... WARNING: Do NOT attempt to recreate this!
-1 box of Mac and Cheese
-1 Tomato, diced (not too bad here)
-3 strips of bacon, sliced
- 2 hard-boiled eggs (I know what you are thinking. I was thinking the same thing!)
- Gorgonzola cheese (to top it all off)
Mix all well together and enjoy!
The thing is though is that I didn't and made a sandwich instead. Thankfully we could just laugh about this. Gosh, I love my husband dearly!

Deck
Hey guys! Here are some pictures of the deck that R. and Gordy built this weekend. They put A LOT of work into it, made about 8 Home Depot runs (thank goodness it's so close) and practically finished in 3 days. Rob just has to put the railings on and then it's good to go. I'll have to keep you all posted when the "New Deck Party" is.

Bob Vila Who?
This weekend is turning out to be a fun working weekend of us. R. and his friend Gordy are taking on the challenge of building a deck onto our back porch. I'll have to post pictures of the developments, but right now our holes have posts in them, and there is a lot of sawing going on out back. As for me, I'm going to stay out of the way!

Here are a few pictures to catch you guys up on what's been going on with us.
My dad, R., Sadie and me building our raised-bed garden
R., Me, Vanessa and Sean in D.C on their trip to the East Coast
Me and the big cow after finishing the Turkey Hill Classic
Penny and Me with Nemo on his 1st birthday. Isn't he going to be a heartbreaker?

Past the Honeymoon phase
No, I am not talking about me and R. being past the honeymoon phase. I am talking about work. I have been spoiled by the past few weeks, starting work at 9, being done by 2 if not earlier. I have had no responsibiliy. Well that all has changed this week. I got my laptop and my phone, even a rolling bag and all of the sudden I am suppose to document and take care of EVERYTHING with the patient. Thank goodness it's hard for my preceptor Mimi to sit still cause she's been helping me out with a lot! But in all honesty, this week has been crazy (even for Mimi) and I am usually finishing by 7 most nights.
My huh (and high) was meeting a 93 year old woman that is going to be MY patient. She has the decorating sense of no one I know. Now no offense to old people, but they just don't decorate their houses like it's 2008. It's more like the 60's or 70's for them. Well this woman didn't fit into that category either. She decorates like it's Marti Gras all the time. She has about 100 dolls in her living room, including barbie and trolls. She decorated EVERYTHING from a non-working toaster, candle sticks, shoes, and phones with beads, gitter, feathers and knick-knack's like she's in an on-going Marti Gras parade. And to top it off, she has pictures of President Kennedy, President Clinton, and President Truman framed on her wall. I will say, this woman has so much charm, but her decorating sense, it's one of a kind!

These weekend's go way too fast!
Another fun weekend here in Bmore! Saturday, Penny and I went over to Brandon and Jess's house for Nehemiah's 1st birthday. Crazy to think that he's 1 already, and crazier to think that my friends are having baby's! I still can't get over that shock!
Speaking of babies...my friend Melinda from nursing school found out on the Ellen Degeneres Show that she is having twin boys! Talk about a random thing...huh moment in fact for many. But congrats to Melinda and Orville- talk about double the trouble!
R. spent most of Saturday starting his next big project- to build a deck. Thankfully he has some friends with experience helping him. So far we have 2 holes through our concrete that go down about 3 feet. I am sure it will be THE place for us to hang out this summer, I'll tell you how next weeks progress goes. Right now, we just have holes =)
And lastly we topped off the weekend with a Mother's Day lunch at our house for both R.'s mom and my mom. It's was a nice time to spend with both our mother's and treat them to a nice meal provided by yours truly.
*Sorry for the lack of pictures. I have a few to put on here but unfortunately, I don't know how to do it.

Living for the weekend
I don't know if I would say I'm living for the weekends just quite yet with my new job, but the past 2 weekends have been so much fun that I just look forward to them so much!
Two weekends ago Sean and Vanessa flew out from San Diego for the weekend. I think it was Vanessa's 2 time out to the East Coast so we embraced all the "green" around us and drove down to DC Saturday to hit up all the monuments. Sunday afternoon we got to show off a cloudy Baltimore and eat at one of our favorite restaurants... Gecko's (fyi: the Bar-B-Que Beef Enchilada is the best)
Last weekend R. and I headed up to good old Lancaster County so that we could run in the Turkey Hill Classic. Unfortunately Rob was sick, so I ran it by myself in 25:00. Not to bad for not really running a lot lately! Thankfully my parents were there to cheer me on, as well as help me gather various Turkey Hill Iced Teas to take home. Nothing like eating hot dogs, iced tea and Turkey Hill Iced Cream at 9AM!
We also hit up our favorite Mennonite store in Lancaster County- Weaver's. Now I know that if you are from Lancaster, you are thinking, "Sarah, there are about 20 stores called Weaver's here." To clarify, it is Weaver's of Fivepointsville. Only in a good Mennonite store can you buy a cast iron frying pan, working boots, a drill and a homemade coloring book of deer. That is just a small sample of the goodness Weaver's carries. Regardless, it is a highlight for us each trip home.
