Here today, Maury tomorrow

Lately, Taj hasn't just been eating his baby food, he's been packing it away and demanding more. This morning Taj ate a whole banana, pears and oatmeal. Does this seem like a lot to anyone else? After finishing off the banana I got a flash forward to Taj and I on a Maury Show about obese children. He's 5, still in diapers and 200 pounds, and audience members are just shaking their heads at me. He can't play with other children because he would squash them. He can't go down the sliding board. All he can do is eat. Ugh. I am not sure what I'd do if Taj was 200 pounds. Scary, scary thought!
I guess I'll just chock it up to a growth spurt for now.

Seven degrees of separation...to JT!

Yesterday Lisa and her baby Tyler from my mom's group came over to enjoy Christmas dinner with us. After talking a while we discovered that Lisa's brother-in-law is Ben Mezrich.

Who is he you ask? He is an author who wrote Bringing Down the House, which the movie 21 is based off of. His latest book is The Accidental Billionaires which Justin Timberlake is currently filming a movie about. I never thought this would happen, but I now have 7 degrees of separation to JT! (And Kevin Bacon of course)

I'm not usually this crazy, it's just Christmas time

Usually I feel that I am good at multitasking. I am pretty good at keeping many things organized in my head, executing them to "almost" perfection. This year, I am literally has been a little bumpy and I think I am out of the running for "Mom of the Year". Actually, I think God made me a mom so that others don't feel so bad about how they are with their babies.

This week I went grocery shopping, as usual, only to figure out that I had forgotten one crucial ingredient for the chili I was making that evening. So I went out to the grocery store for the second time, being sure to stay on task and not buy anything I didn't need. While parallel parking I somehow parked the Matrix in a snowbank on the sidewalk. Couldn't go forward, couldn't go backwards. So I just stopped, obviously. After I got out, I realized I couldn't even get Taj out of the car. So I went inside, grabbed the shovel and moved enough snow to get him out, then placed the carrier on the sidewalk and shoveled the snow packed around my wheels so that I could move my car when it came time later on. My superstar moment came when a Latino guy walking in the middle of the street, speaking Spanish way to fast for me to understand, laughed at me shoveling with Taj chilling (literally) on the sidewalk.

When I came in the house I had to pee so bad. I went our bathroom downstairs only to realize that I locked myself out of the powder room. That's odd. I've watched enough scary movies and America Most Wanted to know that some scary dude could be behind there waiting to jump out at us. First, I got the biggest knife in my knife block. Then I got a flash and did a sweep under the door to see if I could see any feet. That's what the smart ones do in the movies, right? I couldn't see anything but a bunch of dust. I tried to pop the lock, but that was a no go. So I found a screwdriver and took off the doorknob. When I finally got inside, knife in hand, I had no idea why I needed in the bathroom in the first place.

My real prize winning moment was on Thursday while driving home from my mother-in-law's house. I decided stop off at a liquor store to get a few drinks and presents for Christmas. Baby in one arm, 3 bottles of wine in another. When I finally got everything and everyone in the car I realized....I just took my baby to a liquor store and it's not even noon yet. Do other mom's do this?

SNOW DAY!

This weekend it didn't just snow...it dumped! Record snow in the month of December and seventh biggest snow of all time in MD. Roughly speaking I think we got about 18 to 20 inches.
Thankfully, this was a weekend that R. didn't have to work. And thankfully, in my past furry of getting rid of old clothes, I decided NOT to get rid of my Gortex snow pants and snow boots. It was really relaxing and peaceful Saturday being snowed in. No where to be, nothing that needed to be done. Just time spent with the fam. Sadie of course LOVED the snow and couldn't get enough of it. Taj had mixed feelings but overall I think he was just amazed something was that wet and cold.
By Sunday we were all ready to get out, so we went for a family walk by the water. R. insisted on taking the BOB (jogging stroller) and let's just say, it truly is an all terrain stroller. Taj somehow fell asleep as R. was bulldozing the stroller through snow mounds.

A day in the life

Yesterday I was hanging out at my neighbors house with a few mommy friends and I had an "Ah Ha!" moment. I forgot to brush my teeth this morning.

Also, Taj had an epic blowout (sorry Taj!) and I didn't know what to do, although I do feel like I am very skilled in this area since being a nurse and dealing with patients of all shapes and sizes. So I yelled for my friend to come upstairs and help me, cause that's what nurses do first. You discover a problem, and then you call a friend to help you deal with the mess cause no one goes in alone. So I grabbed my friend Kristina to help (whether she wanted to or not) to just hold a hand. Taj's, not mine cause I was really busy obviously. And I went and put on a bathrobe backwards (I didn't want to get dirty cause I was really looking cute yesterday), stripped the boy naked from the waste down, and put him under flowing water in the tub.

Two days ago Taj found his voice. He always new he could "talk". It's just that now it's louder, much louder.

We tried green beans for the first time yesterday. Taj decided it wasn't for him and slapped the spoon out of my hand. I quickly got the message.
